Our heater occasionally breaks as our basement get flooded on major storms. This item is a lifesaver. I cannot recommend it enough. Just make sure to have weather-proof curtains and draft protectors, as these help lessen the cold a lot. Prop the heater against a wall that is in between rooms, more heat is produced and conserved that way.

From what we read, this would be a good option. It works well enough to keep a section of the room warm. Unfortunately, 5841 Lasko Heater it is very tipsy on carpet. I also don't like, as many others mentioned, that you cannot aim the vent any lower than 180 degrees. Also, it gets very hot on the vent area...not great around young kids.
